ABOUT ROCKY RIDGE FARM
|
|
![]() Rocky Ridge Farm (RRF) is owned and operated by "Cousin" Sam Cauchi and family at Calga in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
Calga is located one hour north of Sydney, just off the Sydney - Newcastle Freeway.
The Cauchi family has been an integral part of greyhound racing in Australia for over 40 years.
RRF's stud operation was established in 1994, and soon became the leading Greyhound Stud in NSW and one of the top three studs in Australia.
"Cousin" Sam is renowned for his astuteness in identifying potentially outstanding stud dogs.
RRF champions like Worthy Reward and Golden Currency consistently topped the NSW sire lists in the latter part of the 1990's. Token Prince has continued that tradition since 2001 and shows no signs of slowing down.
In 2002, 2003 and 2004 his progeny have won more than twice as many races as any other sire at Wentworth Park, the major NSW city track.
In 2002 Token Prince first became Australia's premier sire (assuming the mantle held for many years by the legendary Head Honcho) with his progeny having 225.5 major "city wins". He was successful again in 2003 with 265 and 2004 with 311.5 major "city wins".
His total of 802 wins in 2002-4 was 218.5(or 37%) ahead of his nearest rival. His career strike-rate for major "city wins" per litter is clearly best among current proven sires and already exceeds that of former supersires Head Honcho and Malawis Prince.
During 2004 he was the leading Australian sire of Group winners with 19, bringing his career tally to 35 by year end. His progeny have also been prolific record breakers over all distances from 315-725 metres. At the close of 2004, 37 of them held current Australian track records, with his closest available rival having 14 recordholders.
Kobble Creek and Bright Ebony confirmed their status as leading sires when they each produced their first Group 1 winners in October 2004.
